Thomas E. Cranmer
Age 50, passed Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center, as a result of complications from lymphoma.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, he lived most of his life in the Shorewood area. Tom graduated from the University of Kentucky. Go Wildcats. Forever.
Tom worked at Primus Electronics, was a substitute teacher for District 86, and most recently for Fr. Richard Ross, where he dedicated his time to the care and nurturing of many animals. He loved nature and was passionate about playing disc golf with his son Jake, and his band of brothers, for whom he cared deeply. He was an avid reader and ferocious debater; full of life, which he proudly lived on his own terms.
He was a kind, generous, devoted father and a loyal friend to many.
Tom is survived by the love of his life, and mother to his son, Amy Manion-Rocco; two step-children, Tommy Manion and Stephanie Manion; his beloved son, Jake, who was Tom’s lifeblood and a never-ending source of pride and joy; his mother, Patty Cranmer of Shorewood; his sisters, Chris (Phil) Meier and Kate (Christopher) Graefe; his nieces, Eva, Ella, and Ruby; and his nephew, Ben.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert E. Cranmer.
Visitation for Thomas E. Cranmer will be held at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet, beginning at 8:30 a.m., on Monday, October 9, 2017, followed by a procession at 9:30 a.m. to St. Jude Catholic Church, 2212 McDonough Street, Joliet, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Cremation rites will be accorded following funeral services.
