John F. Zlogar, Sr.
John F. Zlogar, Sr. passed away at the age of 85 years on Monday, October 23, 2017, at his home with family by his side, following a hard battle with Artery Disease. He was born in Joliet and a lifelong Joliet area resident. Jack was a U.S. Navy Korean War Veteran. He retired after many years of dedicated service from the Brotherhood of Local #1 Ironworkers. His greatest love in life was spending time with his family. His life was all about the love he felt for his family; he always made sure they all knew they were the most important part of his life. Holidays, birthdays, and vacations on Siesta Key Beach with his family was the “Super Bowl” of his life.

Survived by his loving and devoted wife of 61 years, Nancy (nee Smith) Zlogar of Joliet; three sons, John F. (Denise) Zlogar, Jr. of Joliet, Doug (Charlene) Zlogar of Sacramento, CA, and Brad (Danette Sartori) Zlogar of Joliet; one daughter, Sally (Bob) Bertani of Wilmington, IL ; one brother, Jim (Katie) Zlogar of Arlington Heights, IL; one sister, Sr. Joan Zlogar, O.P of Terre Haute, IN; four grandchildren, Mike, Jack, Christian and Dillon Zlogar; nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
As it was Jack’s final request, an intimate private gathering with his family was held and a Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus. Interment services immediately followed at Mt. Olivet Cemetery graveside with full military honors conducted under the auspices of the United States Navy.
