John G. Skiniotes Sr.
John G. Skiniotes Sr., age 88 of New Lenox passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at his late residence surrounded by the love of his family. He was born in Joliet, the son of the late George and Maria (Kapellas) Skiniotes, he was a lifelong area resident. John was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War. He retired from Brown & Lambrecht/T.J. Lambrecht Construction as a Superintendent in 1989 following 32 years of service. Member of All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, Teamsters Union Local #179 and VFW Post #9545 New Lenox. John was Past President of the New Lenox Lions Club.
John is survived by his four children, Mary Kaye (Edmund) Knowles, John G. (Judy) Skiniotes Jr., Judy L. (Monty Shannon) Martin and Nicholas J. (Nikki) Skiniotes; eight grandchildren, Edmund P. Knowles, Nicole Skiniotes, Melanie (Zack) Davy, Christopher, Brad, John, Nick and Eric Skiniotes; one sister, Irene Heitzman; brother-in-law of Jeri Skiniotes, Chuck Colognesi and Jenny Colognesi; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Preceded by his loving wife, Rita G. (Colognesi) Skiniotes (2006); his parents; one sister, Alice (Peter) Passas; two brothers, Nicholas and James Skiniotes; brothers-in-law, John Heitzman and Rudolph Colognesi; and his sister-in-law, Norma Colognesi.
Funeral Services for John G. Skiniotes Sr. will be Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at 8:45 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Roads, Joliet to All Saints Greek Orthodox Church for services at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Memorials in his name to VFW Post 9545, New Lenox, or All Saints Greek Orthodox Church Endowment Fund, would be appreciated.
