Obituary of Helen Radakovich

Helen C. Radakovich (nee Chuck) Age 96. Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at Sunny Hill Nursing Home. Born in Spokane, WA on May 25, 1911 to the late Peter and Anka (nee Lukich) Chuck, she was raised in Kellogg and Elk River, ID, and moved to Joliet in the 1920's. She was the beloved wife of the late Dushan Radakovich (1966); loving mother of Donna (Robert) Isbell of St. Charles, IL and Natalie Radakovich of Joliet; proud grandmother of Douglas (Paula) Isbell and their children, Ezekiel and Vega Rose Isbell; as well as Gregory Isbell and his children, Claudia and Giselle Jelena Isbell; her half-sisters, Stella Conroy and Zora (Joseph) Zan; and sisters-in-law, Shirley (Chuck) Dye, Helen (late Mike) Radakovich, and Nancy (the late Peter Radakovich) Hamilton; brothers-in-law, Luka (Anne) Radakovich and Robert (Joanne) Radakovich; beloved aunt of many nieces and nephews including Mary Ann (the late Tony) Janes, Michaelene (Elmer) Vicich, Janet (Frank) Huss and George (Nancy) Radakovich. In addition to her husband and parents, Helen was also preceded in death by her beloved and devoted sister, Mary (Michael) Orlovich; stepmother, Mary Chuck; half-brother, Michael Chuck and half-sister, Dorothy Dodson. A founding member of St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church and past member of St. George Serbian Orthodox Church; she was active in the Ladies Auxiliary of both churches. Past officer and member of the Serbian National Federation. In her younger years, Helen was a proud employee of the American Institute of Laundry. A devoted homemaker, she will be fondly remembered for her excellent baking skills, hand stitched embroideries, and the pride and care she took in mending and pressing the Priests vestments at her church over the years. A remarkable woman with great resolve, she would always strive to help all who called upon her. Helen C. Radakovich will Lie in State Monday, January 21, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. until time of funeral services at 10:30 a.m. at St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church, 3457 Black Road, Joliet. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Joliet Area Community Hospice, Sunny Hill Nursing Home, or St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church in her name would be appreciated.
