Obituary of Carl Swiggett

Carl G. Swiggett Age 73. Late of Mazon and formerly of Morris, died peacefully, Saturday evening, December 1, 2007 at Edward Hospital in Naperville, IL. Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday morning, December 5, 2007, 11:00 a.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 1201 W. Rte. 6 at Deerpath Drive in Morris . Interment will follow at Willard Grove Cemetery in Channahon. Visitation will also be Wednesday morning at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the service begins. Mr. Swiggett was born October 20, 1934 in Bradfordsville, Kentucky to the late Kead and Naomi Swiggett. He was raised in Morris and a longtime resident until moving to Mazon several years ago. He attended Morris Community High School, and after graduation he served his Country as a Paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division of the U.S. Army. He married his former wife Sharon Beth Decker in Morris, in January of 1961. Carl retired from the Army Corp. of Engineers, following in the tradition of the Swiggett family, where he too was a Lockman for many years. He was previously employed at Stockdale and the former Metro Rubber. His hobbies included fishing and farming. He is survived by his children, Christine (Mark) Lines of Morris, Kathleen (James) Heckler of Lockport, Karen Swiggett of Ivanhoe, WI., and Bryan (Kelly) Swiggett of Racine, WI. Grandchildren, Chet (Stephanie) Lines, Eric Lines; Hollie, Joshua, Sarah and Jesse Storms; Trever Broderick; Christopher and Kyle Swiggett. One brother, James (Bev) Swiggett of Morris; one sister Darlene (Tom) Kline of Des Moines, Iowa, as well as several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Leneard and Frederick Swiggett. In lieu of flowers, Memorials in his name to the National Kidney Foundation would be appreciated.
