Obituary of George Vardal

George Vardal Age 75. Passed away Saturday, October 27, 2007 at his residence with his family by his side. He was born in 1931 in Athens, Greece and made Joliet his home since 1951. George is survived by his wife, Georgia Apostolou; his children, Sande, Laura and Paul; and their mother, Sandra D. Vardal; his brother, Denis (late Danira); nieces, Denise, Debra and Dina Vardal; sisters-in-law, Irene and Niki Apostolou; and brothers-in-law, George (Paula), Pete (Kiki), and Michael (Michelle) Apostolou. George was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving in the Korean Conflict and was awarded two Bronze Stars for bravery. He attended St. Joseph College in Renselear, IN and Purdue University School of Engineering. George and Denis established Vardal Engineering Supply in 1958, which will celebrate 50 years in business. Interment will be in the family chapel in Mykonos, Greece. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Joliet Area Community Hospice in his name would be appreciated. Arrangements by: FRED C.
