Obituary of Virgil K. Randles

Virgil K. Randles Age 89, of Joliet, IL, passed peacefully at home Thursday, July 7, 2016. He was born in Buckingham, IL December 30, 1926 to the late Margaret (nee Moran) and John V. Randles and had moved at a young age with his family to Joliet where he resided the remainder of his life. A U.S. Navy Veteran of WW II who was honorably discharged January 14, 1946. Awarded the Victory Medal American Area. He also served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Beloved husband of 62 years to Susan (nee Restaino) Randles; loving father of Kenneth (Vicki) Randles, Linda (Rodney) Robinson, Joseph Randles, Michael (Laura) Randles and Andrew (Jennifer) Randles; proud grandfather of Kenny Jr. (Laura) Randles, Nicole (Ambrose) Gonzalez; Adam and Mitchell Randles; Kai and Makenna Randles; dearest great-grandfather of two, Connor and Kaylee Randles; and fond brother of Phillip Randles, Anita Fredericks, Fred Randles and Lillian Collins. Preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Margaret Hibler, Catherine Marshall, Ida May Plyer, Eileen Mott, Joanne McCure, William, Theodore, John and Leonard Randles. Virgil retired from the Housing Authority of Joliet after many years of service. He was previously employed as a cement finisher at Joliet Army Ammunition Plant/Uniroyal. Life member of American Legion Harwood Post #5. An avid fisherman who always enjoyed trips to Wisconsin, Virgil truly loved the outdoors; gardening, camping, RVing and hunting in addition to fishing. One of his favorite moments was receiving the "Big Buck" award after a succesful deer outing. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Funeral Services for Virgil Randles will be held Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at 8:45 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.) Joliet to St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. For information (815) 741-5500.
