Obituary of Judith A. Compagnoni

Judith A. "Judy" Compagnoni (Nee Laurie) Age 75. At rest, peacefully, July 15, 2016 at Joliet Area Community Hospice Home, surrounded by her loving family. Born August 7, 1940 in Chicago Heights, IL to James and Stella (nee Mlynarczyk.) Judy embraced her nursing vocation at both St. James and St. Margaret Hospitals for many years. Judy was an active member in the Shorewood Del Webb Community, a member of A.O.R.N. and St. Kieran's Women's Club, Chicago Heights, where she was recognized as "Woman of the Year". Judy volunteered countless hours at St. Kieran's School and Church and as a Marian Catholic Band parent. Judy enjoyed her family time with her daughters, sons-in-law and grandchildren at their cottage in South Haven, Michigan. Judy loved to cook and bake especially around her favorite holiday, Christmas. Survived by her two daughters, Marcie (John) Elfrink and Gia Compagnoni (Richard) Kanak; grandmother of six, Laura, Vincent, Sophia and Lucy Elfrink; Ricky and Jackson Kanak; one sister, Kathy (Larry) Wisinski; two sisters-in-law, Mac Compagnoni and Joyce Martello; cousin and friend to many. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph (2014) and brother, Jim "Buster" Laurie. Funeral Services for Judy Compagnoni will be Monday, July 18, 2016 at 9:15 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd), Joliet, to Holy Family Catholic Church in Shorewood, for Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be held privately in Michigan.
