Obituary of LaVerne J. Jackson, Jr.

LaVerne J. Jackson, Jr. “Jack” Age, 73, passed away Friday, July 22, 2016 at his residence with his family by his side. Born and raised in Joliet, he was a resident of Shorewood. LaVerne was a U.S. Army veteran and retired from BASF. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting ,fishing and spending time at the lake with his family and friends. Survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Charlene J. (nee Ligos); two daughters, Tina (Larry) Susner and Lisa (Raul) Rivera; seven grandchildren, Michael (Stacy), Nicole and Natalie Susner, Krystal, Raul III, and Elijah Rivera and Evelyn Dones; four siblings, Richard (Cathy) Jackson, Gary Jackson, Terry (Debbie) Jackson and Shirley (Jay) Koren; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Preceded by his parents, LaVerne J. and Ann (nee Vitus) Jackson; his daughter, Bethany (Emilio) Jackson-Dones; one brother, Robert Jackson and one sister, Barbara Zefeldt. Jack would want us to have one last toast in his honor, so lets raise our glass to a great friend, beloved brother,adored grandfather,cherished father,and loving husband-Rest in Peace, you will be missed but always in our hearts. A Memorial Mass for LaVerne J. Jackson will be held on Wednesday, July 27, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Church of St. Jude, 2212 McDonough St., Joliet, IL 60436 with military honors under the auspices of the United States Army. As it was his wish, cremation rites have been accorded. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to the Wounded Warriors would be appreciated.
