Obituary of James A. Ambrose

James A. Ambrose "Jim" Age 49, of Channahon, IL, died suddenly, Monday August 8, 2016. He was born November 24, 1966 to Mary Anne (nee Hanrahan) and George Ambrose in Oak Lawn, IL, he was raised and educated in Midlothian attending St. Christopher Grade School then Marist High School graduating with the class of 1984. He also attended Purdue Calumet College. Beloved son of Mary Anne and George; loving brother of Kathie (Jeff) Purvis and Kristin Ambrose; proud uncle of Jessie, Kayla, Jake and Josie. Several Aunts, Uncles and Cousins also survive. He will also be missed by his special friend, Kathy McGee. Jim was employed in the refinery industry for many years. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing and playing bags. He was a huge Blackhawks, White Sox and Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He possessed a kind spirit and will be remembered fondly for his huge heart and extreme generosity. Funeral services for Jim Ambrose will be held at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.) in Joliet where visitation will take place Friday August 12, 2016 from 3 - 9 p.m. Prayers Saturday 9 a.m. at the funeral home to Holy Family Catholic Church in Shorewood, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be private at Good Shepherd Cemetery, Orland Park, IL. at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name can be made to Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago or the Wounded Warriors Project. For information (815) 741-5500.
