Obituary of Lois C. Swinford

Lois C. Swinford (nee Strunk) Age 97, of Joliet, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at Rosewood Care Center. Born on June 11, 1919 to Ralph and Lucille Strunk. She was a former volunteer at Silver Cross Hospital. Lois's life was centered around her family. She was the family reunion planner and the person who drew everyone together. Nothing made her happier than being surrounded by those she loved. Survived by her daughter, Janice (Dave) Kettwig of Tucson, AZ; her son, Dale R. Swinford of Montgomery, IL; eight grandchildren, Jeffrey (Bernadette) Kettwig, Angie Hutten, Kathleen (Kevin) Tully, Greg Swinford, Sara (Rick) Papp, Nicole (Rob) Weiler, Adam Swinford, and Eleni (George) Marks; 18 great grandchildren; her daughter-in-law, Shirley Swinford; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded by her husband of 72 years, Myrl N. Swinford (2010); one son, Ronald Myrl Swinford (1980); her parents; and two brothers. Funeral Services for Lois C. Swinford will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home Chapel, 3200 Black at Essington Roads, Joliet, IL. with Pastor Lora Zink officiating. Graveside Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Joliet Area Community Hospice in her name would be appreciated.
