Barbara J. Preble (nee Kilmer) Age 94. At rest peacefully, January 1, 2017 at Joliet Area Community Hospice Home, surrounded by her loving family Born in Morris, IL to Clyde and Mabel (nee Brayton) Kilmer. Barbara was a registered nurse at Silver Cross Hospital with 60 years of service including volunteer for 30 years. Barbara enjoyed sewing, knitting, baking and reading. Survived by her 5 children; Gail Bjekich, Chris (Pam) Preble, Ann (Dwight) Wernecke, Sue Whyte and Lynn (Dan) Pavnica. Grandmother of 12, Mandy (Eric) Robertson, Melissa (Kevin) Jacobs, Tracy (Andrew) Nesland, Erin Whyte, Justin Whyte, Kelly (Preston) Pierce, Dana Wernecke, Erik Wernecke, Brian Wernecke, Kevin (Brookley) Pavnica, Jozef Pavnica and Kristyn Pavnica. Great grandmother of 8. Preceded in death by her parents, husband, William (2002) and daughter Jean Preble (1959). The family would like to thank the caring staff at Willow Falls and to mom's personal care giver, Dorothy Matthews, whom is a wonderful person. Funeral services for Barbara J. Preble will be held on Friday, January 6, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home 3200 Black at Essington Rds. Joliet, IL. Interment to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorials in her name to Silver Cross Hospital or Grace United Methodist Church would be appreciated.
