Obituary of Helen V. Lambert

Helen V. Lambert (née Vogrin), age 87, of Joliet, passed away peacefully following a brief illness and surrounded by family on January 16, 2017, two years to the day after her husband's passing. Helen was born May 11, 1929, in Joliet, IL, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Likovic) Vogrin. Her husband, Daniel J. Lambert, preceded her in death after 62 years of marriage. Helen devoted her life to caring for her husband and their six children. She is survived by her children, Patricia (Todd) Hogan, Daniel (Debra) Lambert, Peggy (Patrick Monshau) Velemir, James (Paula) Lambert, Terence Lambert, and Timothy (Teri) Lambert; grandchildren Jennifer (David) Dwelle, Laura (Terry) Lewis, Stephanie (Patrick) Forster, Kyle Hogan, Kathryn (Aaron) Bloomfield, Daniel (Kelley) Lambert, Jessica Velemir, Martin Velemir, Jamie (Michael) Stevenson, Melissa Lambert, Michael Lambert, Jacey Lambert and Luke Lambert; and 13 great grandchildren with another one due in February. She is also survived by her sisters, Rosemary (Robert) Stephen, Marilyn (Joseph) Feehan, Yvonne (David) Callans, and Barbara (Robert-dec) Haggerty; her brother Joseph (Joyce-dec) Vogrin; sister-in-law, Sharon (James-dec) Lambert; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. In addition to her husband, Helen was preceded in death by her daughter, Kathleen Marie; her parents; sister and brother-in-law, Marjorie and George Eberhard; sisters, Jayne and Dorothea Vogrin; brother-in-law, Robert Haggerty; sister-in-law, Joyce Vogrin; brothers and sister-in-law, Thomas and Janice Lambert and James Lambert. Helen attended St. John the Baptist School and St. Francis Academy where she was salutatorian of the class of 1947. After graduation she worked at Fitzgerald Furniture Company and then at Blockson Chemical until she became a full-time mother to raise her children. Helen was active in volunteer work at St. Paul's School, SFA and JCHS and was involved in Mothers' Clubs at these schools. She was the person family members and friends called when they needed information or advice. She loved her family and her friends and spending time with them. Visitation for Helen V. Lambert will be Sunday, January 22, 2017 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Roads, Joliet. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 23, 2017 at 9:00 AM at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 18 Woodlawn Ave, Joliet. Interment will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL.
