Obituary of Chester J. Planic

Chester J. Planic, age 84, of Minooka since 2000, and formerly of Berwyn, passed away peacefully, Thursday, January 26, 2017 at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center with his family at his side. Born in June 19, 1932 in Chicago, he was the son of the late William and Sophie (Nichpon) Planic. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War and attaining the rank of corporal. He worked in the electrical wholesale business for 40 years, spending his entire career with Great West Electrical Supply, Berwyn. Chester loved to travel with his wife, friends, and relatives, going to dinners and stage plays, the occasional trip to the casino, and his fishing trips to Canada with his son and long time friends. Surviving are his beloved wife of 59 years, Stella D. (nee Rybczyk) Planic; one daughter, Deborah (James) Clark of Brookfield; and one son, Dennis (Sally) Planic of Shorewood. Funeral services for Chester J. Planic will be held Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church, 24500 S. Navajo Drive, Channahon. Interment will be at 12:00 p.m. Noon at Resurrection Cemetery, Justice. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to the family would be appreciated. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Roads, Joliet.
