Obituary of George R. Dehm

George R. Dehm Age 73, died Wednesday March 15, 2017 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home. He was a lifelong member of St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church where he was a lector for 38 years and Eucharistic Minister for 33 years. He retired from Caterpillar Inc. in Joliet IL after 35 years and 5 months. He was a 50-year member of both the 3rd Degree (Rev. Gordon Michels Council #12014) and 4th Degree (Joliet Assembly #204) of the Knights of Columbus. George served the order as District Deputy, Grand Knight and Faithful Navigator. He was a 28-year member of the Joliet Elks Lodge #296, and served 17 years as an original bike trail sentinel of the Forest Preserve District of Will County. Survived by his wife of 48 years, Judith A. (Vancas) Dehm; brother, Bob Dehm (Marian); children, Sheila Marie Urton (Brent), Catherine Dehm (Scott Hoyt), Suzanne Marie Watson (Justin), John Paul Dehm (Katelyn); grandchildren, Danielle Marie & Wyatt Michael Urton, Nolan Ryan, Jackson Douglas and Deacon Robert Watson. He treasured the friendship of his lifelong friend, Edward Bycznski. Preceded in death by parents, George L. Dehm and Anne M. (Jurkovich). Funeral Services for George R. Dehm will be held on Monday March 20, 2017, 9:15 a.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet, IL. to St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment St. Mary Nativity Cemetery. The Dehm family kindly requests that flowers be omitted and that memorials in his name to St. Mary Nativity Church or Joliet Area Community Hospice would be most appreciated.
