Obituary of Wayne H. Knight, Sr.

Wayne H. Knight, Sr. Age 72, of Joliet, IL and formerly Houma, Louisiana, passed away peacefully Sunday April 9, 2017 at his home. He was born August 29, 1944 to the late Lottie (nee Crochet) and Peter Knight in Houma, where he was raised and educated. Wayne served during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Navy from 1962 until he was honorably discharged in 1966. Surviving are his wife of 37 years, Jana (nee Danford) Knight; two sons, Peter (Amanda) Knight, Michael (Melissa) Knight; two daughters, Dawn Knight, Sarah (Kevin) Ludvigsen; daughter-in-law, Carmen Knight; twelve grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Glynn Knight and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his son, Wayne Jr. Wayne was a Federal Firefighter who retired in 1998 after serving at the Naval Air Station Belle Chasse, Louisiana for many years. He was a non-striking member of the AFL-CIO and former member of the American Legion and Knights of Columbus. His hobbies included fishing and lively conversation. He never met a stranger. Wayne was just one of those guys you could connect with....in minutes. As it was his wish, cremation rites have been accorded and Wayne's final earthly remains will be transferred back home to his beloved Louisiana.
