Lois L. Lara

Age 66. At rest peacefully Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at  home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Evansville, IN on January 30, 1951 to Herbert and Minnie (nee Howard) Alexander. She enjoyed gardening, garage sales, ghost hunting, cooking, listening to the oldies, and spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren. Her greatest joy in life was watching her grandchildren grow up. She was loved by her family and friends and will be truly missed.  

Survived by her beloved husband of 48 years, Robert L. Lara; four children, Chris (Richie) Linton, Stevie Lara, Denise (Bajram) Memishofski, and Selena "Bear" (Ryan) Huff; five grandchildren, Jordan (fiance Matt Hagen) Linton, Hope Grutzius, Hunter Linton, Macen Memishofski, and Fallon Memishofski; and nine siblings, Faye (Moe) Solial, Barbara Colvin, Marcella (Mike) Newton, Donnie (Crystal), Leslie (Diane), Terry, Jeffrey, Joseph, Lee Matthew Alexander. Aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Preceded by her parents and five siblings, Willa Jean Howard, Joyce M. Brooks, Betty Jo Moreno, Jim and John Alexander.

Visitation for Lois L. Lara will be held on Sunday, May 21, 2017 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet. As it was her wish, cremation rites will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to Joliet Oncology-Hematology Associates (JOHA) or Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated.
