Patricia Virginia Koranda

Age 84, passed away on May 24, 2017 at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.  Born on July 10, 1932 to Arnold and Ann (Day) Macke, she grew up on the South Side of Chicago, where she attended St. George's Grade School and was a graduate of St. Gabriel High School. She married her beloved husband, Lawrence in 1954 and they started their family.  Patricia was a secretary early in her career and then went through training to become a Respiratory Therapist working at both Silver Cross Hospital and Presence St. Joseph Medical Center.  She transferred over to the emergency room at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center where she was the Unit Secretary until she retired in 1996.  After retirement she enjoyed going to the casino, playing the slots, and spending time with her family.

Preceded by her beloved husband of 43 years, Lawrence Koranda; her parents; one son, William Koranda; four brothers and one sister.

Survived by her children, Paula Koranda, Kathleen (James) Haasch, Patrick (Dee) Koranda and Maureen Koranda; nine grandchildren, Angela, Jaclyn, Cheryl (fiancée Michael Dunn) and Erin (fiancée Christopher Francus) Halweg, Michael (Jessica), Lauren (fiancée Evan Broyles) and Jakob Haasch, Caitlin and Morgan Koranda; nine great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; one brother; one sister; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral Services for Patricia Virginia Koranda will be held on Friday, May 26, 2017 at  7:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet, IL.  Interment will be held privately at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to United Cerebral Palsy, 311 S.
