Obituary of Antonio Conte

Antonio "Tony" Conte, age 82, a longtime Joliet, IL. resident, passed peacefully at his home, Friday, May 26, 2017. He was born September 7, 1934 in San Vittorino, Italy to the late Nicoletta (nee Colonna) and Biase Conte and was raised in the Abruzzi region before immigrating to the U.S. in 1955 and settling in Joliet.

Beloved and devoted husband of 53 years to Rosa (nee Stella) whom he married August 29, 1963; loving father of Mario Conte of Chicago, William R. (Tanja, nee Corsetti) Conte of Shorewood, Dominic (Michelle, nee Ryan) Conte of Chicago; daughter-in-law, Barb Holland of Naperville; proud “Nonno” of Jack and Maxwell; Alessandra, Caesare and Vittoria; Vincent, Sienna and Giuliana. Also survived by a sister-in-law, Domenica Conte, a niece and several nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Ennio Conte and two sisters, Maria Conte and Maria Conte.

Tony retired from EJ&E Railroad after 33 years of dedicated service. He was a member of the American Italian Cultural Society (AICS) and the Laborers Union, Local #75.

Funeral services for Antonio Conte will be held Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at 8:45 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Roads, Joliet, to the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m.  Entombment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park.  In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus or American Italian Cultural Society would be appreciated.  Visitation Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
