Joe H. Furlano

Age 68, of Red Oak, TX and formerly Midlothian, IL and Burbank, IL, died Tuesday June 20, 2017 in Dallas, TX.  He was born in Chicago, IL to the late Edna and Thomas Furlano.

He was the beloved husband of 38 years to Angela (Sokolowski); loving father of Joseph J. (Jody) Furlano, Renee (Scott) Wissel, Scotty (Sarah) Furlano, Jason Furlano and Jennifer Furlano; proud grandfather of Julianna, Cala, Marissa, Joey and Gianna; Paige and Kylie; CJ, Amy and Olivia; Abigail, Nina, Elena and Lily; Joy and Hunter.

Joe, a retired electrician/mechanic, worked for many years at Schulze & Burch and after relocating to Red Oak, TX 18 years ago, he was employed with IBEW Local 20 as a Journeyman electrician.  His greatest passion was working as a volunteer firefighter for the Burbank Fire Department in Burbank, IL and then served the community of Midlothian, Illinois for 20 years as a volunteer firefighter for the Midlothian Fire Department. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, playing softball and bowling.

Funeral services for Joe Furlano will be held Monday June 26, 2017, 9:15 a.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.) Joliet, IL to Holy Family Catholic Church, 600 N. Brookforest Ave., (Rt. 59) in Shorewood, IL where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m.  As it was Joe's wish, cremation rites will follow Mass.  Visitation will take place Sunday from 2 - 7 p.m. at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made to the Firefighters Association, Diabetes Foundation or a charity of the donor's choice.  For more information, please call 815-741-5500 or visit his Memorial Tribute at www.fredcdames.com
