Gilda T. Lutz passed away Monday, July 17, 2017 at Edward Hospital, Naperville at the age of 61. She was born in Cuba to the late Gil and Esther (nee Garcia) Perez, residing in Shorewood since 1996. Gilda was an enthusiast collector of carved eggs and enjoyed gardening and antiquing. She had a strong passion of taking care of her home and family.

Gilda was first diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis (a disease the affects the lower digestive tract), in 2007. Since that time she underwent several surgeries, and tried numerous medications. Despite these conditions, she maintained her zeal for life, and never quit trying to give her all to her family.

She is survived by her loving husband of 24 years, John P. Lutz of Shorewood; her two sons, Immanuel (Chrissy) Gomez of Merriville, IN and Zeke (fiancé Markie Day) Lutz of Shorewood; her sister, Maritza (Mike) Nigro of Carol Stream; her nephew, Mike Nigro, Jr. and her niece, Marissa Langsfeld.

Funeral services for Gilda T. Lutz will be this Thursday, July 20, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.), Joliet. Interment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be THURSDAY MORNING 9:30 a.m. until time of services.
