Obituary of Mary Jo Schuster

Mary Jo Schuster, of Morris, following a courageous battle with cancer passed away Monday August 7, 2017 at her home with her family by her side. She was born July 28, 1953 in Evanston, IL to Sidney Joseph and Margaret L. (nee Jongleux) Friedl.  She was a 1975 graduate of Illinois State University, and received her Masters of Science in Special Education from Northern Illinois University in 1979 and her Bachelor of Science in Social Sciences from   Illinois State University. She taught at Lakeview Junior High School in Downers Grove, IL and at Lakewood Middle School, Carpentersville, prior to starting her family.

An active community member and volunteer, Mary Jo previously served as a den leader for Morris Cub Scout Pack #476, member and past president of GFWC IL Morris Junior Woman’s Club, and phone volunteer and employee for We Care of Grundy County. Currently, Mary Jo was a member and past president of Morris P.E.O. Sisterhood Chapter MD, and volunteer in many capacities for the First United Methodist Church, Morris of which she was a proud member.

Surviving are her beloved husband, James Schuster of Morris; two sons, Anthony Schuster of San Francisco, CA and Patrick (Lauren) Schuster of Chicago; two sisters, Catherine Friedl and Margaret (Richard) Keshen; two aunts, Helen Jongleux and Jeanne Jongleux; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Richard Friedl; and one sister, Helen Wagner.

Visitation will be held Thursday, August 10, 2017 from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Friday, August 11, 2017 from 8:30-9:30 a.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home 1201 W. Route 6 at Deerpath Drive in Morris, IL.  A procession will depart the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home to the First United Methodist Church, 118 W. Jackson St., Morris, IL on Friday, August 11, 2017 at 9:45 a.m. for services at 10:30 a.m., Rev. Robert Sathuri to officiate.
