Charles V. DeVries
Born: December 30, 1935
At Rest: August 19, 2017

Age 81, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side from complications of a fall.  Born in Chicago, he was the son of Richard and Elizabeth (Vanderwall) DeVries. Survived by his wife of 55 years, Joyce (Mooi) DeVries; his three children, Brent (Jennifer) DeVries, Carolyn “Katie” (Ronald) Thrall, Jeanne (Brendan) Keane; eleven grandchildren.  Also survived by his twin sister, Carol (Vern) Hoffman, and brothers, Henry (Elaine) DeVries, David (Ruth) DeVries and many nieces and nephews.

He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed boating and tinkering with antique outboard motors.  He retired from International Harvester where he worked as a developmental engineer.  He served in the United States Army.

Funeral services for Charles V. DeVries will be held Wednesday, August 23, 2017, at 12 Noon at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds. Joliet, IL.  Interment will be at the Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.  Visitation will be Tuesday, August 22, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to the Wheatland Salem United Methodist Church building fund or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.  For information please call (815) 741-5500 or visit his Memorial Tribute at www.fredcdames.com
