Joan A. Lantz Tomany

(nee McQuen)

Age 75, of Joliet, passed away peacefully, Monday, September 4, 2017 at Sunny Hill Nursing Home, with her loving family by her side.

Born March 13, 1942 in Joliet, she was the daughter of Thomas and Helen (Griffin) McQuen.  She worked for many years in the maintenance department for the former Quantum Chemical Company.

Joan enjoyed many activities with her family and friends until her health began to limit ability to participate in many of the things she enjoyed.  She will be remembered for gardening with her parents and brother, quilting, going out with her girlfriends, and enjoying her dogs who were an important part of her family.

Surviving are two daughters, Patti (Brian) Block and Karen (Dave Knight) Lantz; one son, William “Bill” Lantz; two grandchildren, Megan and Logan Block; four great-grandchildren, Aidan, Dustin, Kyrie and Isaac; one brother, Richard (Frieda) McQuen; one sister, Jean Flynn; a sister-in-law, Sheila McQuen; a special niece, Kathryn McQuen; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one son, Robert “Bobby” Lantz, Jr.; her parents; one brother, Thomas McQuen; and her beloved pets, Max and Piper.

The family would like to thank the Joliet Area Community Hospice and Sunny Hill Nursing Home for their care and support.

Visitation for Joan Lantz Tomany will be held Saturday, September 9, 2017 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Fred C.
