William R. Mayberry

William R. Mayberry, age 91, passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home.  Born September 3, 1926 in Barlow, KY, he was the son of the late Jessie and Lovie (nee Blankenship) Mayberry and resided in Joliet the past 62 years.  William was a proud U.S. Army Veteran of World War II.  He was a retired carpenter from Union Local #174 and formerly employed by Lucenta Tire, Youngs Spring & Wire, Chicago and U.S. Steel.  William was a jack of all trades, enjoyed western movies, working with his hands, feeding the squirrels and attending his church, Ridgewood Baptist where he was a member since 1970.   

William is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Eva Mae (Simpson-Wilson) Mayberry of Joliet and his five children, Keith (Sue) Wilson of Minooka, Steve Wilson of Missouri, Jeannie Dankowski of Joliet, Kathy (Steve) Hall of Arizona and Pamela (Stan) Carrillo of Manteno, IL; 12 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren.  Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded by his parents; two children, Joann and Ronnie; and two sisters, Mary Virginia Beecher and Linda Mayberry.

Funeral services for William R. Mayberry will be held Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Fred C. Dames funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet with Rev. David Jaspers officiating.  Interment will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park where military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Army.  Memorials in his name to St. Jude Children’s Hospital would be appreciated.  Visitation will be held Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services.  For more information, please call 815-741-5500 or visit his Memorial Tribute at www.fredcdames.com
