Rose M. Gresser
Rose M. Gresser passed away peacefully at the age of 93 on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home. Rose was born on July 8, 1924 in Joliet and has been a lifelong resident. Retired from Joliet Township High School after 25 years of service where she was a baker at both East and West campuses and previously worked at D’Amico’s 214 in downtown Joliet for 10 years. She was a member and volunteer for Joliet Moose Lodge #300, Ladies of the Moose Chapter #84, the Joliet Seniors Club and St. Mary Magdalene Church. Rose loved baking, decorating cakes, camping, traveling and waitressing.
Surviving are her daughter, Kathy (late Jim) Frost; her son, Larry W. (Mary Ellen) Gresser; three grandchildren, Karen (Ron) Talmadge, Kim (Dave) Warren and Matthew (Amy) Gresser; and five great-grandchildren, Donald (Keisha) Martin Jr., Katie and Lexie Nickle, Joshua Warren and Chase Gresser.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Lawrence A. Gresser (2012); her parents, Dominico and Catherine Aimone; and her eleven sisters and brothers.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Toor and his nurse, Betty as well as the Joliet Area Community Hospice and her caregiver, Dawn, for their kind and compassionate care.
A Memorial Visitation will be held at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds, Joliet, IL on Saturday, November 18, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service to follow. Inurnment will be Monday, November 20, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL.
