Obituary of Joyce Carol Hodge

Joyce Carol Hodge

Age 85, of Morris, IL, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, November 29, 2017.  She was born May 4, 1932 to the late Charles and Elsie (nee Griebel) Bogda.  Raised and educated in Chicago, IL, she attended Brentano Grade School and was a graduate of Schurz High School.  A longtime member of 458 3M Union, Joyce was a bindery worker for 45 years.  She primarily spent her professional career at W.F. Halls Bindery, before retiring from Frey’s Bindery after four years of service.

Joyce was the beloved mother of Dawn Robison, Lynn Hodge, Dale Karen (the late George) Threewitt, Donna (Eddie) Pyatt and Kimberly (James) Conte; devoted grandmother of 17; proud great-grandmother of 21 and dearest great-great-grandmother of 19.  Also surviving is her brother, Earl “Buddy” (Marilyn) Bogda, two nieces and one nephew.  She will also be missed by “Big L” or Louie, her trusty canine companion.

She was preceded by her husband, Joseph Matthew Wasilewski; her parents; one sister, Lorraine (late Lawrence) Elkin; and her precious granddaughter, Amber Lynn Robison.

Some of Joyce’s hobbies included gardening, playing cards (rummy being a favorite), BINGO, word search puzzles, shopping and eating “sweeties”. She loved her family and was always most happy spending time with them.  She appreciated all those around her including her compassionate caregiver Wendy, her late (and only) loving sister Lorraine and her dear friend, Kimie Malone.

Joyce was a devoted member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Morris.  

Visitation for Joyce Carol Hodge will take place on Sunday, December 3, 2017 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 1201 W.
