1919 -2017

Rose M. Kon, age 98, of Crest Hill, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 in Florida.  She was surrounded by her loving family during her last days.

Rose was born in Joliet on April 16, 1919, the daughter of the late John and Dora (nee Stokan) Chepuran.  She loved life and enjoyed going out to dinner for fresh gulf shrimp, going to casinos in Joliet, Tampa and Las Vegas, watching Lawrence Welk and the Chicago Cubs, and being a snow bird in Florida every winter for the past 10 years.  She was a proud member (and past officer) of the Senior Citizens of Will County, a proud Lady of the Moose (Joliet Lodge), a member of the Croatian Cultural Club, the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Cantigny Post #367 and a parishioner of St. Anne’s Church.

Rose is survived by two daughters, Dorothy (Jim) Catalani, of Bradenton FL/Laguna Hills, CA and Karen (Jim) Kutin of Orland Park; daughter-in-law, Sandra Kon  of Prosper, TX;  five grandchildren, Cass (Lori) Catalani  of Bradenton FL, Jarrett Catalani of Las Vegas, NV, Natasha Richer (nee Kon) of Prosper, TX, Alison (Joe) Wolz of Lockport IL and Kevin Deany  of Shorewood; and seven great grandchildren, Courtney Catalani, Cameron Catalani and Claire Catalani of Bradenton FL, Mason Richer and Brady Richer of Prosper TX, Oscar Wolz and Teddy Wolz of Lockport IL.

She was preceded by her beloved husband, Peter; her loving son, Michael “Kenny”; her loving parents; her brother, John; and six sisters, Rose, in infancy, Mary (Joe) Shepich, Ann (Bill) Kobe, Kate (Fred) Tijan, Stephanie (Val) Spreizer and Luby (Clarence) Nagra.

Funeral services for Rose M. Kon will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at 9:15 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet, to St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church, 706 N. Broadway St., Joliet, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m.  Interment will follow at St. Mary Nativity Cemetery.  Masses in her name would be appreciated.  There will be no visitation.  For more information, please call 815-741-5500 or visit her Memorial Tribute at www.fredcdames.com
