Obituary of Mary Alice Norman
Mary Alice Norman, age 69, of Morris, passed away Friday, December 8, 2017 at Loyola University Medical Center with her family by her side.
Born October 15, 1948 in Somerset, PA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Ann (nee Krepelka) Stapinski. She moved to Joliet at an early age, and was a graduate of St. Francis High School, Class of 1966. She worked for several years as an executive secretary for Argonne National Laboratory.
Mary and her husband, Jerry, traveled the world as part of his career with Exxon Mobil. They lived in Saudi Arabia and Slidell, Louisiana, as well as Joliet, Channahon and Minooka, retiring to Morris in 2006. She was a member of the Petroleum Wives Club and the Harley Owners Group.
Mary was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She was a good listener and a calming force for her family. She will be remembered for the loving and fun times she spent with her grandchildren.
Surviving is her beloved husband, Gerald M. “Jerry” Norman of Morris, and they celebrated 50 years of marriage on April 15, 2017. Also surviving are her two loving children, Gerald Christopher (Cindy) Norman of Shorewood, and Michele Renae Hughes of Frankfort; four grandchildren, Samantha and Ryan Norman and Jack and Lauren Hughes; one sister, Joanne (Roger) McFadden of Las Vegas, NV; and two nephews, Tony and Joseph McFadden.
Visitation for Mary Alice Norman will be held Thursday, December 14, 2017 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Roads, Joliet.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 15, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded following services and interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to We Care of Grundy County (wecareofgrundy.org) or the Rotary Club of Morris (morrisrotary.org) would be appreciated.
