Shirley Marie Grasty
(nee Berscheid)

Age 68, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 19, 2017, surrounded by her loving family at home.  She was a graduate of Joliet Junior College and St. Francis Academy, Class of 1967.  Shirley retired as an office manager of the Prairie Area Library System after over 20 years of service and was formerly employed by Illinois Bell Telephone Company.  She was a member of the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus and a former member of the parish council, serving as president and secretary during her commitment to her church.

Shirley is survived by her husband of 45 1/2 years, William Lloyd Grasty of Joliet; two sons, Todd W. (Nicole) Grasty of Frankfort and Craig M. Grasty of Joliet; one granddaughter, Olivia M. Grasty; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

She was preceded by her parents, Herbert and Virginia (nee Rakowski) Berscheid; two brothers, Herbert Berscheid and Wayne Berscheid.

Funeral services for Shirley Marie Grasty will be Saturday, December 23, 2017 at 9:15 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet, to the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus, 604 N. Raynor Ave., Joliet, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m.  Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.  Visitation will be Friday, 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
