Helen Doreen Ball passed away peacefully at the age of 75 on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.  She was born on February 23, 1942 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, the daughter of the late Clifton and Helen (nee Fox) Cross. Helen relocated to Monee, IL with her husband, Dale W. Ball, in 1963.  Together they enjoyed their retirement in Idaho for over 20 years before recently returning back to the Plainfield area in March 2017.  Helen was the epitome of the independent woman who enjoyed life to the fullest.  Growing up in Canada, she grew up a true outdoors-woman who enjoyed everything that nature had to offer; horseback riding, hunting, fishing, and skiing.  Her love of riding horses grew from competing in the Hunter/Jumper Divisions as a young girl, to being an instructor with the 4-H club.  

Helen is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 54 years, Dale W. Ball; her sons, Dale C. Ball, David (Joan) Ball, and Daniel (Kate) Ball; five grandchildren, Ryan, Justin, Glenna, Hayden and Gabriella; two siblings, Diane (Mick) Farran and Donald (Joan) Cross; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at the Feddee-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home, 112 W. Main Street, Peotone, IL, from 3:00-7:00 p.m.  Inurnment will take place privately by the family at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL.  Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Fred C.
