Obituary of Marjorie I. Aschenbrenner

Marjorie I. Aschenbrenner, (nee Shafer), age 86, of Joliet, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at Sunny Hill Nursing Home.

Born September 8, 1931 in Plainfield, she was the daughter of Donald and Esther (nee Seber) Shafer, and was a graduate of Plainfield High School. In 1955, she married Robert Aschenbrenner.  They enjoyed a wonderful 62 years of marriage until his passing on October 22, 2017.  Her parents, and two brothers, Robert (Ruth) Shafer and William (Dolores) Shafer also preceded her in death.

She was a long time employee of Joyce Beverages, and was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. 

Marjorie enjoyed spending time with her family and sharing stories about growing up on the family farm.

Surviving are her loving son, Jeff (Rose) Aschenbrenner of Wildwood, MO; two grandsons, Jeffrey (Darcy) Aschenbrenner of Glendale, MO and Danny (Fiancée Kirsten Pfershy) Aschenbrenner of St. Louis, MO; one sister, Dorothy (the late William) Blenck; and numerous nieces and nephews including Bonnie Hagerty, who was one of Marjorie's lifelong friends.

The family would like to thank the entire staff of Sunny Hill Nursing Home and Joliet Area Community Hospice for their dedicated care and compassion.

Visitation for Marjorie Aschenbrenner will begin at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, December 30, 2017 at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 18 N. Woodlawn Ave., Joliet, and will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m.  Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Romeoville, IL.  In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church would be appreciated.  For information please call (815) 741-5500 or visit his Memorial Tribute at www.fredcdames.com
