Rosemary Zielinski

Age 93, a lifetime resident of Joliet, IL, passed peacefully at home on Saturday, January 13, 2018. She was born on February 21, 1924, to the late Walter and Rose (nee Falker) Elwood.  Rosemary attended Parks School, St. Mary Carmelite and graduated from Providence Catholic High School.

She was the beloved wife of 71 years to Norbert “Norb” L. Zielinski; dear sister of Rita (late Robert) Blaskie; and a very loving and devoted aunt, great aunt and great-great aunt.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Jack (late Rita) Elwood, Anna Mae (late William) Broseau, and Viola (late Raymond) Budzinski; one niece, Susan Broseau; and one nephew, John Patrick “Packy” Elwood.

Rosemary and Norb together operated Mr. Zee’s Music Shop on Cass Street in Joliet for many years. She also worked at Grants Hardware and Appliance, and in her earlier years at Gerlach-Barklow.  She was also the family babysitter throughout the years which she thoroughly enjoyed.  Her hobbies included ceramics, flower gardening and attending craft shows.

Rosemary’s family will always remember the gentle care, kindness and warmth shown by Transitions Hospice, Allied Home Care, as well as Dr. Gandhi and his staff.

Funeral services for Rosemary Zielinski will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2018, at 9:15 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet, to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 18 Woodlawn Ave., Joliet, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.  Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to your favorite charity would be appreciated.  For more information, please call (815) 741-5500 or visit her Memorial Tribute at www.fredcdames.com
