Obituary of Barbara Oplustil

Barbara Oplustil, age 87, of Plainfield, IL, passed peacefully on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Meadowbrook Manor in Bolingbrook, IL.  She was born March 4, 1930 to the late Maria and John Kostuch in Poland, where she was raised and educated. A longtime resident of Chicago’s Rogers Park neighborhood, Barbara, after retirement from Sargent-Lunde, enjoyed spending winters with her son, Jack, and family in Jamaica, and then the Cayman Islands, as well as the summers in Plainfield, with her son, Paul, and family.

Surviving are her son, Paul (Elizabeth) Oplustil; daughter-in-law, Elorie; grandchildren, Adam, Alicia (Scott) and Mia (Jeffrey); and great-grandchildren, Indi and Nyla.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John; son, Jack Oplustil; her parents and siblings.

Barbara enjoyed traveling and painting, however being with her family gave her the most joy and happiness.

All friends and relatives are invited to gather at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet, on Saturday, March 3, 2018 from 12:00 p.m. until time of Prayer Service at 1:30 p.m.  As it was Barbara’s request, cremation rites have been accorded and her final earthly remains will be interred at a later date.
