Age 82, of Joliet, IL passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2018, at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center, Joliet.  She was born March 16, 1935 to the late Bessie (nee Wilson) and Everett Viers in Bemis, TN where she was raised and educated.

Martha is survived by her children, Marjorie L. Butler, Phillip (Cecelia) Mansfield, Susan Darlene (Ken) Adams, Wilbert L. Stewart and Charles (the late Linda) Stewart; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty (Harold) Vailes and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded by her loving husband of 49 years, Forrest L. Stewart (2010); her parents; daughter, Judy Marie Warren; son, Michael Mansfield; step daughter, Reba Bishop; one brother, Billy Joe Viers and one sister, Mary Elizabeth Cooper.

Martha retired from Westell Communications after 19 years of faithful service. She previously worked at Western Electric for 10 years and in her younger years at the Joliet Arsenal.

Her hobbies included bowling, playing cards and crocheting, however she always maintained as an accomplished homemaker that she was the “original” Martha Stewart, as she was married to Forrest a year prior to the TV personality taking her vows.

Visitation for Martha Stewart will be held Saturday February 17, 2018 at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m.  Funeral Services will be held at the Lawrence-Sorenson Funeral Home 403 E. Baltimore St., Jackson, TN with visitation Tuesday February 20, 2018 from 4-7 pm.  Funeral services Wednesday morning 11 am at the funeral home with interment following at Highland Memorial Gardens in Jackson.  Memorials in her name to the American Lung Association or the Salvation Army would be appreciated.    For more information, please call 815-741-5500 or visit her Memorial Tribute at www.fredcdames.com
