Obituary of Mary K. Shea

Mary K. (nee Reinhart) Shea, a longtime Joliet resident, passed away at the age of 87 on Monday, February 26, 2018, at the Presence Villa Franciscan Nursing Home, with her family by her side.  Mary was born on January 25, 1931 in Mattoon, IL. 

She was an active parishioner of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church and was a member and former “Woman of the Year” of the Council of Catholic Woman.  Always a giving woman, she enjoyed volunteering at the Rialto Theatre in Joliet.

Mary loved tending to her garden and listening to music.  More than anything, Mary was a dedicated mother who put her family first. 

Mary is survived by her five daughters, Michelle (Frank) Zambrano, Peg (Peter) Contos, Maureen (Dave) Rogina, Eileen (Ray) Nonnie and Laura (Greg) Wilkinson; her grandchildren, Michael, Amy, Jonathan, Jennifer, Eric, Kevin, Matt, Mike, Mallorie and Alexa; and is deeply loved by all of her great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by her sisters, Barb (Rich) Miller and Madonna (Jack) Collinsworth and her nieces, Kathy (Ed) Wilhelmi and Lynn (Jim) Samalea.

She is preceded in death by her husband, William H. Shea (2011); her parents, John and Matilda (nee Kastle) Reinhart; one brother, Charles Reinhart; and one sister, Helen Warnes.

Visitation for Mary K. Shea will be held on Wednesday, February 28, 2018, from 10:00 to11:00 a.m. at St. Jude Catholic Church, 241 W. 2nd Ave., New Lenox, IL.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m.  Interment will follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL.
