Sister M. Anne Wayrowski, OSF

Sister M. Anne Wayrowski, OSF (1927 – 2018) died at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Village, Joliet, Illinois, on March 14, 2018.  Sister Anne was one of four children born to the late Celia (Zientarski) and Edward Wayrowski.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Delphine Rankin.  She is survived by her brother, Edward Wagner, living in Florida, her sister, Sister Loretta Wagner, OSF and nieces and nephews.  Sister Anne was a member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Mary Immaculate for 71 years.

Sister Anne attended St. Pascal Grade School and Alvernia High School in Chicago, Illinois.  She earned her Bachelor’s Degree at the College of St. Francis (now the University of St. Francis) in Joliet, Illinois and her Master’s Degree in Education at DePaul University in Chicago.  Sister Anne also earned a Certificate in Franciscan Studies at the College of Saint Francis.

Sister Anne began her life-long ministry in the field of education at the Cathedral of St. Raymond Grade School in Joliet in 1950.  She served in Chicago, Norridge, Champaign and Aurora, Illinois and also in the states of Ohio, Florida and Michigan.  She was principal of St. Coleman Grade School in Pompano Beach, Florida and Immaculate Conception Grade School in Columbus, Ohio.  After completing her ministry in Grade School education at St. Patrick’s in Joliet (1991 – 1993), Sister Anne began her ministry at the Center for Correctional Concerns (Will County Adult Detention Facility) where she worked in Adult Education until 2016.  In 1994 Sister Anne was appointed to the Joliet Diocesan Board of Education.
 
The wake for Sister Anne will be at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home, 1201 Wyoming Avenue, Joliet, IL, (Wyoming and Rt. 30) on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 from 2:00 – 6:45 p.m., with a Prayer Service at 4:45 p.m. and Mass of Christian Burial at 7:00 p.m.  The Funeral Procession will leave from Our Lady of Angels on Wednesday morning, March 21, 2018 at 9:00 a.m.  The Interment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville, IL.
