Obituary of Francis Joseph Zarley

Francis Joseph Zarley, age 91, passed away peacefully on Good Friday, March 30, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with Parkinson’s.   Francis was born in Joliet on November 7, 1926 to Thomas and Catherine Zarley. He retired in 1981 from the Joliet Post Office Accounting Department.  Veteran of WWII and the Korean War, he proudly served in the United States Army. Francis was a lifelong Democrat who enjoyed playing cards, was an avid Notre Dame and Chicago Cubs fan.  He was also a very passionate dog lover.

Francis is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Rosemarie (nee Talarico); his children, Thomas (Janet), Mark (Angela), and Michael (Kristy); grandfather of Maegan (Karl) Watson, Ryan, Kate and Ava Zarley; great grandfather of Kohen and Krew Watson; and uncle of many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded by his parents and his siblings, William, Edward, and Marjorie Zarley.

Funeral Services for Francis Joseph Zarley will be held on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at 8:45 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds, Joliet to the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus where a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:30 a.m.  As it was his request, cremation rites will be accorded following services.  In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to Joliet Area Community Hospice or the Romeoville Humane Society would be appreciated.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m.  at the funeral home.
