Margaret J. Kapinus

Age 74, passed away following a courageous battle with cancer on Monday, April 2, 2018, surrounded by family, at her home in Mesa, AZ.  Born in Joliet, IL, she was the daughter of the late William E. and Latitia (nee Smith) O’Brien.  A graduate of St. Mary Carmelite Grade School and Providence Catholic High School.  She was a member of St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church.  In retirement, Margaret and her husband, William, relocated to Mesa, AZ.

She was preceded in death by her parents; step father, John Vollmer; brother, Patrick O’Brien; and sons, Steven Kapinus and James Kapinus.

Early in life, Margaret was known as Teacher Peggy when she taught nursery school.  She met her husband, and the love of her life, Bill, while working at the Dairy Castle where Peggy was a carhop and Bill was a cook.  Peggy’s greatest joy were her grandchildren, and she cherished the time she spent with them.  Peggy was an active member of the Women of the Moose Joliet Lodge #300, playing on their bowling and bocce ball teams.  She was an avid reader and crossword puzzle aficionado.  Peggy enjoyed participating in the social activities at the Las Alegres community where she lived in Mesa.
