Agnes Tolios

Agnes Tolios, age 75, of Joliet, IL passed away Monday morning, March 7, 2022.  She was born December 31, 1946 in Kostarazi, Greece to the late Thomai (nee Makris) and Athanasios Karagounis.  As 20 years old, Agnes emigrated to the United States with her family, settling in Joliet after a brief stay in Chicago and Berwyn.

She is the beloved mother of Aspasia “Sula” (Lloyd) Tinsman and Athanasios “Tom” (Melissa) Tolios; loving “Yia Yia” of Christina (Tracy) Kuykendall and Alexander Andrew; and proud great “Yia Yia” of Owen, Charlie and Ben. Also surviving are her sister, Hrisoula (Gregory) Anagnostou; brother-in-law, Nickolas Tolios; and all her nieces and nephews, including nephew, Terry (Sue) Tolios and niece, Athena (Chris) Vlahous; and several relatives in Greece.

Preceded in death by her husband, Akilas Tolios; her parents; and sister and brother in-law, Eleni and Panayoti Mihalakas.

Agnes was a faithful member of All Saints Greek Orthodox Church.  She will be remembered for her devotion to the Lord and her family.  She loved being a homemaker and was always prepared to serve a wonderful meal to family and friends alike.

Visitation and Funeral services for Agnes Tolios will be held Tuesday, March 15, 2022, at All Saints Greek Orthodox Church 102 N. Broadway St., Joliet, where all friends and relatives can gather from 9:00 a.m. until services begin at 10:00 a.m.  Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park II.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name can be made to All Saints Greek Orthodox Church.
