Joseph Pec

Obituary of Joseph D. Pec

Joseph D. "Joe” Pec, passed away on April 17, 2026, at Serenity Estates in Morris, Illinois.

Joe was born April 16, 1945, in Chicago, Illinois to Joseph and Anna (Baketz) Pec and was one of five siblings. Joe met his wife Margaret “Marge” on the southwest side of Chicago, the neighborhood where they both grew up, and were married for 57 years before Marge passed in 2022. He never stopped missing her and expressed his longing for their reunion in heaven which to him could not come soon enough.

During his 60+ year career in the trucking industry, Joe held a variety of posts including sales and management. Whatever needed to be done – he jumped in and got it done.  Joe was an exceptionally hard worker and passionate about the work he provided. He never expected anything more from his team than what he expected from himself and set a very high bar.

Joe embraced his Catholic faith especially during his last few years on this side of Heaven.

Joe enjoyed hanging out with friends and neighbors, which was one of his favorite pass times. Kicking back with company on a porch or deck engaged in lively conversation brought him joy.

He loved to piddle around outside – he took great pride in his home, enjoying the yard work, maintenance, and repair of which he was quite talented.

But more than anything, more than anything in the world – he loved his family, his wife, his boys, daughters-in-laws, grandkids, and great grandkids – he loved them fiercely. Joe’s love for Marge was also undeniable. He would always be seen holding Marge’s hand or keeping his hand on her back while they walked.  Always the protector where she was concerned.

Joe is survived by his sons Joseph (Cathy) and Steve (Denise); his brother, Rob (Ellen); his sisters, Carol and Joanne (Dave); his brother-in-law, Bob; and his sister-in-law, Joan (Dan); three wonderful grandchildren, Andrew (Caitlyn), Timothy, and Daniel; and two great grandkid’s, Oliver and Jayden.  He also leaves behind many cherished nieces, nephews, other family members, and devoted friends.

Joe was preceded in death by his beautiful wife, Marge; mother, Anna; his father, Joseph; brother, Ed; brother-in-law, Jerry (Shirley); his sister-in-law, Bev (Bob); and his brother-in-law, Jon (Carol).
