Richard Northway
Rich Northway, age 71, of Joliet, Illinois, passed away on Monday, May 4, 2026 at his home. He was born on November 22, 1954, in Chicago, IL, the son of the late Robert and Laverne (nee Dobbert) Northway.
Rich was a proud member of Teamsters Local 731 and a true Chicago sports enthusiast, never missing a chance to cheer on the Bears, White Sox, Blackhawks, and Bulls. In his younger years he had an adventurous spirit, and was always ready to take on new experiences. He found simple joy in taking walks around the neighborhood and spending time outdoors. Above all, he was deeply devoted to his family. His grandchildren brought him endless energy and happiness, and he cherished every moment with his children.
Rich is survived by his loving wife Sherry; daughters, Jamie (Brian) Roche and Kelsey (Rob) Harrison; grandchildren, Jack, Henry, Sophia, Lucy, and Trevor.
He was preceded in death by his son, Joe Northway; brother, Bob Northway, and sister, Dena Buchanan.
A Memorial Gathering for Rich Northway will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd., Joliet, IL, from 3:00 p.m. until his Memorial Service beginning at 6:00 p.m. As it was his request, cremation rites have been accorded.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name may be made to Limbs for Life.
