Obituary of Sandra Timmons
Sandra Sue Timmons
Age 89, a lifelong Seneca, Illinois resident, passed peacefully in her home, with family
at her side, early Friday morning, May 22, 2026.
Sandra was born October 20, 1936 to the late Loreto (Shelton) and Theodore "Ted"
Swanson. She attended Seneca Grade School and graduated from Seneca High
School in spring of 1954.
On December 26, 1955 Sandra married Eugene M. Timmons at the Seneca Lutheran
Church. In 1955 they started building their family home, next to Eugene’s parents farm.
They officially moved into their lifelong residence in December 1956.
In addition to Eugene, her beloved husband of 60 years, she is also preceded in death
by her parents and siblings, Gloria Carlson, Ted Swanson, and Cris Swanson.
Sandra is the loving mother of Randall "Randy" Timmons and Robin Viland (Al Habal);
devoted grandmother of Austin (Clara) Timmons, Travis (Elisabeth) Timmons, Sarah Jo
(David) Farnsworth; Amber Viland (JT Fischer) and Aaron Viland; proud great
grandmother of Trevin Austin Timmons, Ella Lynn Timmons, Eugene Thomas Timmons,
and Finley Marie Timmons; Sullivan Wayne Timmons, Walker Gene Timmons, and
Julien James Timmons; Hannah Jo Farnsworth and Rosalie Kate Farnsworth. Also
surviving are her sister, Holly Wreath and several generations of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Timmons will be remembered fondly as a wonderful wife, mother, and "Grandma
Sue" to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a dedicated homemaker
who enjoyed baking and tending to her exceptionally beautiful flower gardens. She
loved feeding and watching wildlife and birds in her backyard. A devoted woman of
faith, she was an active member of Seneca Lutheran Church. Later she transferred
membership to Bethlehem Lutheran Church and was leader of the Women's Bible Study
Group there for over 20 years. Another passion was local history, having been a
longstanding member of the Seneca Historical Guild.
Visitation for Sandra will be Thursday May 28, 2026 from 5-8 pm at the Fred C. Dames
Funeral Home 1201 W. Rt 6 (at Deerpath Dr) in Morris. All friends and relatives are
invited to gather on Friday May 29, 2026 from 10:30 a.m. until services begin at 11:00
a.m. at Stavanger Lutheran Church, 2904 N 32nd Rd., Seneca, IL. Pastor Jennifer
Bennet of Stavanger Lutheran and Rev. Patrick Lohse of Bethlehem Lutheran will
officiate. Interment will take place Friday afternoon in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Seneca, IL.
Pall Bearers will be Austin Timmons, Travis Timmons, David Farnsworth, Gary Higgins,
Trevin Timmons, and Sullivan Timmons. Honorary Pall Bearers will be Eugene T.
Timmons, Walker Timmons, Julien Timmons, Al Habal, Rick Timmons, David Timmons,
and Richard Partridge.
In lieu of flowers memorials in her name can be made to the Seneca Historical Guild or
the Illinois Audubon Society.
