Daniel George Devea
Daniel George Devea, passed away peacefully at the age of 75, on Sunday, May 24, 2026, surrounded by his family. Born on February 21, 1951, in Huntley, IL, Daniel was the son of the late George and Gloria (nee Bennett) Devea. He grew up in Joliet, Illinois, where he graduated from Joliet Central High School, and attended Joliet Junior College. He remained closely connected to the community throughout his life.
Dan was a dedicated public servant, retiring in 2009 from the Public Utilities Department with the City of Joliet after 35 years of faithful service. His strong work ethic, reliability, and quiet commitment to others were hallmarks of his professional life.
A loving and faith-filled man, Dan found great joy in his interests and hobbies. He was a member of the Heston Steam Museum in Indiana, where he enjoyed sharing his appreciation for history and trains. He also had a fondness for old cars and participated in Civil War reenacting, pursuits that reflected his curiosity, craftsmanship, and respect for the past. Proud of his sons, he always enjoyed spending time watching them race.
Dan is survived by his two sons, Tony (Chrissy) Devea and Chris Devea; his adoring grandchildren, Brianna (Thomas) McDonald, Anthony Devea, and Colten Devea; and his great-grandson, Caleb McDonald. He is also survived by his fiancée, Connie Dickenson; his sister, Diane Morgan; brother, Dennis (Jan) Devea; niece, Laura Morgan; and his sister-in-law, Diane (Dale) Samuel.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Alice Lucille: and his parents, George and Gloria Devea.
