Obituary of Lawrence J. Koenig

Lawrence J. “Larry” Koenig, age 77, of Crest Hill, and formerly of California, passed away June 25, 2026 at his home.  He was born on May 15, 1949 in Joliet, IL, to the late Louis and Lola (nee Henry) Koenig.

Larry was raised in Crest Hill and graduated from Lockport West High School with the Class of 1967. He continued his education at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, where he earned his bachelor's degree, before going on to receive his Juris Doctor degree.

He spent most of his adult life in California before returning to his hometown of Crest Hill to lovingly help care for his mother. A highly intelligent man with a free spirit, he was known for his kindness and generous heart. In his younger years, he enjoyed golfing.  He will be remembered for his thoughtful nature and independent spirit.

He is survived by his sister, Patricia (Thomas) Kubinski; nephew, Michael (Dana) Kubinski, and two great-nieces, Lila and Hallie Kubinski; numerous cousins and dear friends.

As it was Lawrence’s request, cremation rites have been accorded.  A private inurnment will be held by the family at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Joliet, IL at a later date.  Arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, Joliet, IL.
