Earnestine "Tina" Davis

Earnestine "Tina" Davis (nee Torry), 77, peacefully fell asleep in death on July 14, 2026. Born in Indianola, Mississippi, Tina was a woman of remarkable determination, deep faith, and endless resourcefulness. She was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in the 1970s, and her love for Jehovah remained the foundation of her life. Her greatest passion was the ministry, especially informal witnessing. She found genuine joy in sharing her faith wherever opportunities arose. It was only fitting that one of her favorite Kingdom songs was "Reaching Out." A cherished highlight of her life was visiting Bethel in 2025, an experience she treasured.
Tina was truly a jack of all trades. Gifted with extraordinary creativity and skill, she was an accomplished seamstress who could create everything from beautiful custom curtains to elegant wedding gowns. Throughout her life, she continually sought to learn and grow, earning certificates as a notary public and in home remodeling. Never one to stop pursuing knowledge, she proudly earned her Bachelor's degree of Arts in Health Care Administration at the age of 71, proving that it is never too late to achieve a dream.
Professionally, Tina served as a correctional officer for the Cook County Jail. She also worked multiple jobs throughout her life, often holding three jobs at a time, to provide for and raise her three daughters as a devoted single mother. Her resilience, unwavering work ethic, and sacrificial love left a lasting example for her family.
Tina was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, LaChelle (Kevin) Allen, Lisa (Terrance) Douglas, and Tiffany Hatcher; her grandchildren, Nicole (Mick) McMahan Van Mook, Tori Douglas, Loren (Cody) Luft, Violet Allen, and Terrance Douglas II; five beloved great-granddaughters; her sister, Shirley Torry; her brothers, Eugene Moore, McKinley Torry, Tim (Danyel) Caldwell, and Wardell Caldwell; along with a host of cherished nieces, nephews, other relatives, dear friends, and her spiritual family.
She was preceded in death by her father, James Torry and mother(s) Earline Torry and Mary Torry; her sister, Lilllie, and her brother, Melvin.
Those who knew Tina will remember her unwavering faith, generous spirit, practical wisdom, and willingness to help others. Whether she was sewing, building, learning, encouraging someone in the ministry, or simply sharing a conversation, she approached life with purpose, determination, and love.
Tina leaves behind a legacy of faith, perseverance, and devotion to Jehovah that will continue to inspire all who knew her. Her family and friends eagerly look forward to the fulfillment of Jehovah's promise of the resurrection, when they will welcome her back with joy. Until that day, her memory will remain a treasured blessing in the hearts of all who loved her.
