Obituary of Marilyn Ann Scalf
Marilyn Ann Scalf (nee Raskauskas), age 92, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, July 14, 2026. She was born on November 30, 1933, to the late Lucille (Henry) and Bernard Raskauskas. Born and raised in Canton, Illinois, Marilyn graduated with the Class of 1951 before eventually making Lisbon, Illinois, her home for most of her adult life.
Above all else, Marilyn cherished her family. Raising her five children and spending time with her beloved grandchildren brought her the greatest happiness. She also found joy in traveling, taking special trips with her sister, Carol, reading mystery novels, decorating for the holidays, especially Christmas, and searching for the best bargains while shopping. Although she never cared much for cooking, she loved opening her home to family gatherings and sharing meals with those she loved.
Marilyn will be remembered for her striking bright blue eyes, her sweet and generous heart, and the unconditional love she gave to her family. She had a sharp mind; an independent spirit, a sassy sense of humor, and a wit that could make anyone smile. Her favorite family motto, "Happy Days," perfectly reflected the warmth, optimism, and joy she brought to those around her.
Marilyn is survived by her loving children, Jane (Chuck) Olson, Randall Scalf, Steven (Julie) Scalf, and Carolyn (Dan) Dentry; her cherished grandchildren, Christian (Kate), Jason (Summerlynn), Aaron, and Bradley Scalf, Stephanie (Todd) Thatcher, Jacob (Amanda) Scalf, Christie (Chad), Ryan, and Joshua (Audri) Dentry, and Jennifer and Jessica Patterson; her beloved great-grandchildren, Liam, Greyson, and Emerson Scalf; Aaryn Riley Rhymer; Layne, Jace, Ky, and Cole Scalf; Taylor (Adam) Seville; Drew, Holden, Harper, and Landon Scalf; Grace, Kai, and Ellie Dentry; and Alex and Teagan Patterson; and her treasured great-great-grandchildren, Lucy Seville and Ripken Rhymer.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 37 years, Clifford Eugene Scalf; her beloved daughter, Rebecca Lyn Patterson; her sister, Carol Lafferty; her brother, Bernard John Raskauskas; and her parents.
Private services were held, with interment at Lisbon Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Marilyn's name may be made to the American Heart Association.
