Obituary of Ida Nelson

Ida Mae Nelson (nee Wilda) Age 87, late of Montgomery, and formerly of Wheeling and Lake Zurich, passed away peacefully, Monday, April 25, 2016 at Joliet Area Community Hospice Home. Ida was born May 31, 1928 in Joliet, to Richard and Amanda (nee Kettwig) Wilda, and was a graduate of Providence High School. She worked in various offices for many years and spent 23 years with Jewel Home Shopping Service in Barrington. Ida was a loving wife, a devoted mother, and a caring grandmother and great-grandmother. She was an avid reader. Surviving are her children, Terry L. (Patricia) Stanley of Plainfield, Sharon (Clifford) Shuman of Oswego, Cheryl (Kenneth) Kalitowski of Huntley, Christina (William) Manella of Fremont, CA, and Michael (Kim) Nelson of Mt. Prospect; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Harold Stanley (1958) and Ernest G. Nelson (1992); her parents; two sisters, Elaine Dearie and Josephine Kinzler; and eight brothers, Richard "Earl", Paul "Ed", Norbert, Donald, Lawrence, Bernard, Ralph and Raymond. Funeral services for Ida Nelson will be held Friday, April 29, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet, to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 2500 Arbeiter Drive, Joliet for Mass at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated. Visitation will be held Thursday, from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. For information (815) 741-5500.
