David Leon Churchill, age 72, passed away peacefully, at his home, in Seminole, FL, with his wife and pet, Tiny, by his side.  Dave was a proud Veteran of the U.S. Army.   A City of Joliet Fire Fighter, he retired from Station 6 firehouse after 30 years of dedicated service.  He was a member of American Legion Post 1080 in Joliet, American Legion Post 252 in Seminole, the Ancient Free & Accepted Masons of IL and the Medinah Shriners.  

Dave was a strong and brave person who had a wonderful since of humor.  He enjoyed cleaning and polishing his cars, woodworking, planting his tomato plants, talking with his old-timer friends and listening to music, but still made time to play and tease his pet, Tiny.

Dave is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 32 years, Robin (nee Leslie) Churchill; step daughter, Carey Churchill; sister, Madonna Churchill; nieces, Melissa, Taylor, Jordyn and Oakley; nephew, Carter; and his faithful companion, Tiny.

He was preceded in death by his father, Leon Churchill; mother, Mary (nee Barry) Churchill; and his step son, Jason Andrew Lopez.

A memorial service for Dave Churchill will be Friday, April 27, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds, Joliet.  Inurnment with full military honors will follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials to Shriners Children's Hospital would be appreciated.  All relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home at 9:00 a.m. for a visitation until the time of service at 10:30 a.m. For more information, please call 815-741-5500 or visit his Memorial Tribute at www.fredcdames.com
