Obituary of Matthew Aaron Guzman

Matthew Aaron Guzman was born at 2:54 p.m., September 13, 1988 at Silver Cross Hospital in Joliet.  He went to heaven on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at 7:37 a.m., at Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital, surrounded by the love and support of his family.  He was 29 years, five months, one day, 16 hours, and 46 minutes of age.

Matthew was a beautiful young man who lived a good life and fought the good fight.  He was an angel in his family’s eyes.  He attended school earlier in his life at the UCP School on Reed Street in Joliet.  He will be remembered for how much he loved Christmas, watching television and movies, and riding the “It’s A Small World” attraction at Disney World.

Surviving are his proud and adoring parents, Arthur Guzman and Rhonda (Hedrick) Guzman; his loving sisters and brother, Alyssa Guzman, Kameron Guzman and Jennifer (Jason) Hale; and his dear grandparents, Caroline Hedrick, and Raul and Amelia Guzman.  Matthew was also a fabulous uncle to his seven nieces and nephews and seven great nieces and nephews.  Also surviving are his aunts and uncles, John and Rosy Hedrick, James and Jeana Hedrick, Edward and Ning VanHeidrich, Carol J. Norton, Alan Hedrick, Lionel Guzman, Elida Chess, Marty and Marybeth Guzman, Matthew and Andrea Guzman, Rita and Dan McManus and Lisa and Don Brown, and especially Peggy Hedrick and partner Adam Hallstrom, with whom he was very close.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Angelina Guzman.

A Memorial Gathering for Matthew Aaron Guzman will be held Saturday, February 17, 2018 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Fred C.
